'Tis the Season...

No, not for Christmas carols, presents, and more!  'Tis the season for band-aids!

I don't know about anyone else, but clearly we should own stock in band-aids.  Not any old band-aids.  Those don't do the trick at our house.  For some reason they don't heal the wounds or make the girls feel any better. We MUST have designer band-aids.  Sometimes just one - but most often at least two per injury!

Quinn fell off her bike the other night on our walk.  Of course we were at the spot furthest away from our house.   She was pretty apprehensive to get back on her bike because of the "dripping" blood on her leg.  We ended up walking the bike all the way home.  Designer band-aids to the rescue!  A couple band-aids and a few tears later Quinn felt much better.  That, and the fact that the next door neighbor girls were outside ready to play!  Whatever works!

Sneak Peek, Part 2

Sullivan had her pictures taken last night.  She did really well, given her level of enthusiasm and level of energy. She followed the typical two-year-old-have-to-explore-my-environment routine.   She LOVED the tractor that Michelle had on her farm - so much so that we had a hard time getting any outdoor pictures that didn't include the tractor. But this picture totally captures her personality - born to be wild!!!

I will post more pictures when I get them back this week!

A Sneak Peek...

Quinn had her pictures taken on Thursday night.  We will get the entire CD of pictures this weekend. But here is one picture that Michelle, our photographer, took of Quinn.  Isn't she growing up so fast?!

I will post more pictures when we get them!

Baby Lila

Sullivan, much like her older sister, loves to play house and loves to play "mommy".  The girls can often be seen carrying around their baby dolls, pushing their babies in the strollers or the shopping cart, feeding them, along with many more mommy things!

Quinn has given a variety of names to her babies over the years - most often names she likes but not having any real significant meaning to them.  Sullivan however is unwavering.  Her baby's name is Lila.... End. Of. Story.  If another name is suggested, it is quickly denied.  Baby Lila is it!

There is a reason for this specific name choice however.  Our great friends in St. Louis, the Boyles, had a baby girl last November.  They named their little girl Lila.  We had the pleasure of visiting them in February and meeting Lila for the first time!  Sullivan was fascinated by her and ever since that visit, EVERY single baby she encounters is named Lila!  The babies at daycare, the babies we encounter in stores, the baby dolls at home - all Lila!

Below is Sullivan with her baby, Lila!  What a loving "mommy" she is!

While Sullivan's Lila is adorable, she pales in comparison to the "original" Miss Lila!

Quinn's New Obsession?

TORNADOES! Not sure why she is obsessed with them, but she is.

She has been talking about them a lot lately and it seems as if tornadoes make there way into a lot of our daily conversations.  She wants to know what exactly they are, where we will go if a tornado hits our house, will our house get ruined?  The tornadoes have not only made their way into her conversations, but they have also made their way into her dreams and into her drawings.

I just had to chuckle a little bit inside last week when I dropped Quinn off at daycare.  Her daycare this summer is more like a summer camp with weekly themes, field trips, etc.  This was her first week at Kid's Club and what do you know... the theme?!  Weather.  Not just weather in general, but more specifically, tornadoes!  Go figure. They spent the week discussing tornadoes, they made tornadoes out of soda bottles, practiced a tornado drill, and more!  Too funny!

Whatever the obsession - my hope is that it doesn't consume her or make her frightful!  Do we have a future storm chaser on our hands?  Very doubtful - but time will tell!

Up, Up and Away!

Last Saturday morning the girls awoke to the best surprise... a surprise that doesn't occur that often, especially for us "city folk".  A hot air balloon landed right in our backyard.  It nearly clipped our dear neighbor's rooftop before making its final landing in our backyard!  Truly a sight to see though!

The city's annual hot air balloon race took place last Saturday morning.  As a result there were approximately 30 balloons in the sky at one time.  A marvelous sight to see, however this picture does it no justice.

The lovely people who landed in our backyard were flying the Sanford Children's Hospital balloon.  They were incredibly nice and even gave the on-lookers a ride up in the balloon. I just couldn't resist a trip up in the balloon - after all, it may be the only time you'll see me in a hot air balloon!  I had to do a little bit of coaxing to get Quinn to go with me.  She was a trooper and ended up having a blast.  Sullivan would have nothing to do with the balloon at all.

Don't look too closely at the picture below and if you do, keep in mind that it was taken at 7:00 a.m. before make-up or a comb had hit my hair! :)

I've Gone and Done It....

After many years of contemplating whether or not to join the blogging world, I've decided it's time!  What better time to record and document what is happening in our world and how the girls are growing (oh so) quickly!  So off I go on the blogging journey... wish me luck!
