Crafting...

What in the world is Sullivan doing?

Taking out some of her frustrations on some wood!

I made some shelves for our basement this past weekend that needed to be distressed.  At the sight of a craft project in the works, Sullivan was all game and ready to jump in and help.  I can always count on Sullivan to be my (amazing) assistant on any crafting project!

Sullivan did such a great job pounding those boards, she recruited another helper.  This time in the form of a four legged, furry helper.  Unfortunately Tessa just couldn't get the hang of the hammer.

I tried to convince Sullivan to help me stain and paint the shelves, but that didn't quite intrigue her the same way banging and pounding and beating the boards did! But I will take all the help she is willing to offer.  I love her crafting heart.

HS Bound...

It's done...

This girl is officially registered for high school classes and is ready to be an FHS Tiger.

Quinn even signed up to take two summer school courses this summer to knock out ALL of her PE courses. Come July 23rd, she is done with PE forever!

Weekend Happenings...

Last weekend, Grandma Jane came to visit and we kept ourselves busy while she was here.  We did lots of shopping at IKEA...multiple days, multiple stops!

That meant that Ryan had lots of assembly to do...bless him for always being so willing to take on my projects!

We also did a little boutique shopping, and treated ourselves to a little ice cream!

Of course we also made time for some game playing.  No trip to Indy is complete without a few dozen rounds of cards with Grandma Jane.

Sullivan also got a new Lego set that she was dying to put together.

It was a great weekend with Grandma and enjoyed all the time we had together.

Urban Air...

Sullivan recently went to Urban Air, an indoor trampoline and adventure park, that recently opened up the street with us.  Her school was sponsoring a fundraiser night and Sullivan just HAD to go with some of her friends from school.

She zip lined (more than once)....

Can you spot her in this picture?  Still zip lining...

She climbed...

But plainly put it, Sullivan had a blast!  We will definitely be back.

Mayor Pooley...

Sullivan's class took a trip to BizTown last week.  BizTown is a small town, run by the students. They learn about all things business - setting up a checking account, paying taxes, the laws of supply and demand, and more!  The city consists of banks, businesses, a hospital, City Hall, and more. It is a phenomenal program and the kids have a blast!

Leading up to this field trip, the kids had to interview for jobs.  Sullivan scoured all the jobs and set her dreams on being mayor of BizTown.  Despite the BIG nerves leading up to the interview, Sullivan nailed it!

Meet Mayor Pooley...

I went to BizTown three years ago with Quinn (look here), and had a blast.  I was thrilled when I found out that I was lucky enough to go with Sullivan too!

Sullivan being sworn in as mayor...

As mayor, Sullivan had to give a handful of speeches at the Town Hall meetings.  She was poised, out spoken, and did an amazing job of leading her city!

I oversaw the students running the Eli Lilly Laboratories.  They kiddos were so hard working, and I had fun working with them throughout the day.

I was able to squeeze in a quick lunch with the mayor.  We took a flight aboard Republic Airways over the lunch hour.

The mayor had to get back to work, so she called her lunch with her mother short.

Sullivan visiting some of her businesses...

The day ended with a closing Town Hall meeting, where Sullivan graciously thanked all the business and citizens of BizTown for their hard work.

Together...

We had a fun evening tonight putting together some old sets of Legos...

Well, most of us anyway...

Required family time sometimes stinks.
Especially when you are 13.

Lots Going On...

There was a lot going on Sunday -

First off, that amazing little groundhog did not see his shadow.  That means we have an early spring coming.  Gosh, how I love that groundhog.  But only if he is right.

Sunday was also a palindromic date - meaning it is the same forward, as it is backwards.
02/02/2020 in both the MM/DD/YYYY format and in the DD/MM/YYYY format.  This makes it a global palindromic date.  The last time it occurred was 909 years ago (on 11/11/1111).  The next time it will occur is in 101 years (on 12/12/2121).

To add to the nerd factor, February 2nd was also a palindromic day of the year (33) and there is a palindromic number of days left in the year (333).  What a crazy mathematical kind of day!

The weather in Indy was beyond beautiful on Sunday.  Mother Nature was on our side.  Ryan, Sullivan and I set out for a walk with the dog - each with a light jacket.  Big mistake.  Turns out jackets were needed.  Bad problem to have on February 2nd. 😂

Sullivan was gracious enough the haul all our jackets home.  Here she is sporting three jackets, while at the same time riding her electric scooter.  What a sight!

Finally, we rounded out the day with some of our dear friends at a Super Bowl gathering.  Great food, great football game, great commercials, and amazing company!

What a day!
