Bye 2020...

In a matter of minutes, we can officially put 2020 to bed.  It's time.  It's been a year - one we will never forget. Just a few more funnies to bring a little humor to a really tough year.  If you don't laugh, you cry and I am officially out of tears (for now!).

Can't wait to say 2020 is in the books...

As we look forward to 2021... I have to wonder.

Let's hope not.

So true, so true...

Here is hoping 2021 is better than this year.
How can it not be?

2020 is in the past.  Moving on.

Losing It...

We all but walked in the door Monday night from our travels back from SD when Sullivan's tooth decided to pop out.

It had been causing her some grief for awhile because her adult tooth decided to invade the space.  We don't usually welcome loss in our lives easily, but this was a welcomed loss for Sullivan.

The tooth fairy got to work and visited despite the craziness of our unpacking and getting settled back in.  Given that it was a sweet surprise for this tooth to be gone, the tooth fairy left her some origami candy and her traditional note.

First Gift of Christmas...

As has become tradition, the girls opened their first gift of the season before leaving for SD.

Quinn opened the gift from Sullivan and got the purse she had really wanted.

Don't you just love that expression!?

Sullivan opened her gift from Quinn and got a fidget toy set that she had asked for.

Each of them started out Christmas with a bang.

Looking forward to what Christmas has in store for them this year!

New and Old...

A new experience lead us to time with some old friends this past weekend.  Our family hit the skies, which was a bit weird given the current pandemic going on, on our way to North Carolina.

We explored the Raleigh area, which was spectacularly gorgeous and reminded us a lot of Tennessee.  It was hard to be mad at the weather too - upper 60s with sunshine in the middle of December.  Heavenly.

We explored downtown Apex, which had a quaint little shopping area.

We would be remised is we didn't hit up Menchies Frozen Yogurt.  It was a HUGE favorite of ours in Indiana before it closed its doors.

But the highlight of the trip was time spent with our dear friends (and old neighbors in SD) that moved to the Raleigh area.  We spent the evening reminiscing and making memories.  The night was filled with laughter and joy - just what we needed.

Fun new experiences with old, great friends!

A Welcomed Sight...

We were officially greeted by winter today (although technically it is still autumn).  Mother Nature blanketed us with our first snowfall, and Sullivan wasted no time getting out there to enjoy it.

Sullivan and Maddy had a blast sledding and building and playing.  Tessa liked it too.

Although I am typically not a fan of snow, I do welcome it around the holiday time.  It so gets me in the mood for Christmas.  Because, after all,  I'm dreaming of a White Christmas. ♫♩♫

Recent Happenings...

This month has been something of a blur, and because of that, this blog has taken a bit of a back burner.  Here are some of the happenings from the last couple of weeks...

Sullivan was able to attend her dear friend's dance recital which has become something of a tradition.  They did a great job of wearing masks and social distancing.

We had a hankering for some ice cream one evening when the weather was somewhat decent. Quinn politely declined.

After ice cream, we took in the sights of some Christmas lights in the city.  We found a pretty incredible neighborhood, with a pretty incredible house...

Santa stopped by for a visit on the way to South Dakota...

Ryan helped Sulla Bulla decorate her bedroom door...

Quinn had Sam over one weekend afternoon.  They watched Christmas movies and played games...

That same COLD afternoon, there was a food truck in the neighborhood selling gourmet hot chocolate. Quinn and Sam and Ryan and I went to partake in the festivities.  Sadly the hot chocolate was sold out, so the kids settled for snow cones.

Makes me cold just looking at them eating a snow cone on a freezing cold day, only wearing sweatshirts because it is so uncool to wear coats.

2020 Ornaments...

As tradition holds fast, here are this year's ornaments that were added to our tree.

This is the most fitting ornament to represent 2020. We will hopefully look back in time and masks will be a thing of the past.  But until then...!   This ornament signifies our time during this global pandemic.

Quinn

Contact Lenses -

This is the year that Quinn leaped into the world of contacts.  It was a slow start for her to wear them, but now it is common place to see her without her glasses.  What a different, more mature look it is for her!

Puzzling -

Quinn did her fair share (and then some) of puzzles this year throughout the pandemic.  It was a way to pass time and also spend time together.  Quinn most definitely has a knack for puzzling.

Sullivan

Trumpet-

This ornament represents Sullivan's new hobby - playing the trumpet in the school band.  Playing the the band looks a whole lot different during a pandemic when you are learning virtually.  Sullivan is making it work though and enjoying her time trumpeting.

Judy-

This is a little bit of a long story.  Since a very young age, we have given Sullivan the nickname "Jealous Judy" and now affectionately just "Judy."  Sullivan can't stand when someone else is getting affection or attention and she is not.  She will quickly insert herself into any situation to get a hug or a snuggle or a cuddle.  She especially doesn't like when the dog gets attention.

Quinn and Sullivan

Deck of Cards-

We played A LOT of card this year and learned a new favorite game - NERTS.  We have shared a lot of laughs and good times playing cards this year.

Diamonds in the Rough

Although not successful at finding a diamond, we still had fun digging in the dirt on our trip to Arkansas.  This ornament represents our vacation this fall to the diamond park in Arkansas.

Ryan

Iced Tea-

Ryan has an (understated) infatuation with iced tea - especially McAllister's iced tea.  This ornament couldn't be more fitting for him.

Picture Ornaments -

Here are 2020's picture ornaments...
