You're Fired, Tooth Fairy...

Well, it seems that the Tooth Fairy has been sleeping on the job and likely should be fired.  Sullivan lost a tooth back in December (yep, you read that right) and the Tooth Fairy never showed up.  She lost another tooth in April, and again she snubbed Sullivan. Then back in May she lost a third tooth.  The pattern held true and the Tooth Fairy never showed her sweet face.

For whatever reason, the Tooth Fairy finally got her "forgotten children" list updated and made a surprise visit to our house.  The Tooth Fairy finally getting her act together...

It turns out waiting for the Tooth Fairy to arrive might have worked out in Sullivan's favor.  She felt so guilty about not showing up, even though Sullivan couldn't have cared less, that she showered her with extra money to make up for it.

Sullivan posing with her goods...

I told Sullivan to hold up her lost teeth, and this was the response I got...

Followed by a sweet obligitory picture, because she is sweet and (generally speaking) does what I ask...

Sullivan currently has a loose tooth that is ready to fall out.  Here's hoping that the Tooth Fairy can hold up her end of the bargain and be a little more timely next time.

A Tad of This and That...

We've been up to a little of this and that this past week.

We celebrated someone's 29th birthday....

Some how that birthday girl didn't make it into any pictures! 💁🙅

We also celebrated that 29 year old's husband for Father's Day.

Man, are we blessed to have him in our lives!

We had frozen yogurt one evening to celebrate how hot it is in NC.  No, not really.  But it is hot.  And humid.  And gross here.  And frozen yogurt makes that a little bit better.

We had a wicked storm...

Followed by the most amazing sky afterwards...

I had a fun night out with friends.  We took this go cart contraption around town and hopped from brewery to brewery.  What a fun time we had!

And Sullivan has been busy flipping and flopping on her new tumble track...

She is getting good at those tumbling moves!

While the Cat's Away...

There is an old adage that says, "When the cat's away, the mice will play."  While I was gone in Indiana with Quinn, Ryan and Sullivan kept themselves plenty busy.

Sullivan finished her last day of school...

Then she had an end of the school year pool party with some of her friends...

Ryan and Sulla visited Dairy Queen (along with a few other yummy places)...

Sullivan started a paint by number...

Ryan practiced his snorkeling in advance of our big trip...

Tessa got a few snuggles at night...

Ryan and Sullivan played a mean game of Connect Four...

As you can see, the two of them kept themselves plenty busy and had plenty of fun while we were gone!

Adventures...

Quinn and I embarked on an adventure to Indiana last week.  She was preparing to go to camp in Michigan and I soaked up some time with friends (and Q) before she left!

The newest driver in the house got some highway miles in on the way to Indiana.  She wasn't thrilled to be tackling highways, but did an amazing job and even avoided a deer crossing.

We ate at some of our favorite places...

I spent time with our dear friends, Jen and Troy.  Boy, they are food for the soul!
And they were gracious enough to host Quinn and I.

I got a picture with Jen and Troy, but failed to get any with some other neighborhood friends.  Ugh!

I had breakfast with another friend, Tabbatha.  We caught up on life but the time flew too fast.

Jen, Q, and I went to see Top Gun: Maverick....

Some of us (me!) had already seen it, but I didn't complain about having to see it again.  It was THAT good!

Quinn and I got an afternoon to ourselves the day she left for camp. We ran errands, did some shopping, and snuck in some time for a popsicle.

Man, how we miss Nicey's!

The days went far too fast, and the goodbye with all was far too hard.   The hardest by far was letting Quinn go.  I know she is having a blast at camp. but selfishly I miss her when she isn't around.  Counting down the days...!

That's It for 7th....

Sullivan said goodbye to 7th grade today...

The start of the year looked very different for her.  Her first day was in a hotel room...

August 2021 to June 2022...

The keyword for Sullivan this year was "thriving."  The year could have been written differently.  Middle school is a tough age for anyone, let alone moving to a new state, a new school, and not knowing anyone. Sullivan came home from school that first day and declared that she made new friends.  Despite not remembering ANY of their names that first (and maybe second and third) day, she was not discouraged.  She has thrived in her friendships, in her classes, and in her confidence this year.  We are thankful for all that she has accomplished and look forward to Year 8 at the same amazing school.

Welcome to summer, Sulla Bulla!

That's a Wrap, Sophomore Year...

Yesterday marked the last day of Quinn's sophomore year.  She had finals this week, so she got out a couple days earlier than Sullivan.

August 2021 to June 2022...

What a difference a year makes... gosh, we started the year in a hotel for goodness sake.

This year presented itself with a new set of challenges for Quinn in a new state, in new high school, and not knowing anyone the day she started.  This girl has risen to the challenge, inserted herself into clubs and honor society, student council and more.  She maintained a 4.3 GPA this year while challenging herself with difficult classes.  She has made good friends and persevered when she could have easily given up.  To say we are proud of Quinn and all that she has done this year is an understatement.  Welcome to summer, Q.  You deserve it!

What an Honor...

Sullivan was accepted into the National Junior Honor Society at her school this spring.  Last night she was inducted into the local chapter.

These cuties got dressed to the nines for the event.

The event was nicely done with each student being allowed to walk the stage and received their certificate.

The woman of honor (pun intended 😉)...

Sullivan with some of her sweet friends afterwards.

She has surrounded herself with a great group of friends this year who are full of good character and encourage Sullivan to be the best version of herself.  What a blessing these ladies are!

So proud of Sullivan and this great accomplishment!
