The Mountains Were Calling...

There is an old quote that says, "The mountains are calling and I must go."  Well...that was us this past weekend.  It was really a college visit that was calling us westward, but potato pototo.

Before our college visit we visited Ashville.  It has a pretty neat downtown with lots of shops with an artsy vibe.

It didn't take long for Quinn to find a bookstore, where she went on a blind date with a book.

The long and short of it is the blind date stunk, so Quinn traded her blind date book into something much better!

We hiked at one of NC's State Parks - Chimney Rock.  It had a gorgeous waterfall, which would most definitely be even more gorgeous when the scenery is green.  We will definitely be back to see that.

Sullivan and Ryan got a head start to the top.  If you look VERY closely, you can see them hanging over the edge.

Quinn and I took our time and enjoyed the view on the way up...

We eventually made it to the top where we were reunited with Sulla and Ryan...

We have two people who thought they were cute and photo bomb'd Quinn's shot.

We did some scenic driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway on our way to Boone for our college visit.  There is some incredible views that just can not be captured in photos.

After our scenic drive, we made it to Boone, NC - home of Appalachian Sate University (App State).

The weather was less than desirable (think rainy and cold) which made the tour a little less fun.  But the town is darling, the campus was great, and Quinn enjoyed the visit.

Will Quinn be a future mountaineer?  Only time will tell.

One thing that is for certain, the mountains will call again.  And we will go.

That's a Wrap...

This week marked the end of Sullivan's 8th grade cheerleading season.

She had a fabulous football season in the fall and an equally great basketball season this winter.

The season concluded with 8th grade night, the middle school equivalent of Senior night, where they recognized and celebrated the 8th grade athletes aging out of middle school sports and moving on to high school.

These three beauties were the 8th grade cheerleaders...

These same three beauties with their ever proud mamas...

A beautiful cheerleader and her biggest fans...

The night ended in a double loss for the HRMS Girls and Boys Hornets teams, but a win for an amazing group of girls who formed the very best cheerleading squad...

Here's to hoping there are many more cheerleading days in Sulla's future.

The Holidays Continued...

Lots of great time was spent at Nana and Papa's while back in South Dakota.

There was a plethora of presents to be unwrapped and enjoyed.

Some of the presents were easier to unwrap than others!  Eric and Kristen gave Quinn and Sullivan a little challenge by making them unwrap their saran wrapped gifts with oven mitts!

Loads of fun was had during this task!

The girls spent the day with Nana too.  They shopped their hearts out and then had to refuel with some frozen yogurt...

The memories made on these outings are ones that the girls will cherish.  They love spending the day with their Nana.

After an amazing time in SD, we headed eastward to Indiana to spend some time with our peeps out there.  Our hearts will filled while spending time with our old neighbors and friends.  The girls soaked up every minute with their friends too.

Sullivan filled her days with Maddy and her family, which always welcome Sullivan with open arms and treat her like part of the family.

Love the Lululemon Belt Bag trend... all three of them were matching!

They went to the Children's Museum to ring in the new year, where they were NOT the only ones with that idea!

The place was PACKED! That didn't stop the girls from having fun!

Fun with friends is the best kind of fun.  I'm thankful for friendships that stand the test of time and are able to pick up right where they left off.

Quinn spent her days with Sam and his family, although no memories were captured in picture form.  That doesn't take away from the good times they had.  If nothing else, they were too busy to get pics!
