Tuckered Out...

Apparently some things never change...

This was Quinn two years ago after a long day in Kindergarten.

This was her on Friday night on the way home from Pooley Pizza Night - after a long and taxing day in 2nd grade.

School apparently wears Quinner out - Poor baby!

Who Can Resist?

Who can resist holding a dear, sweet baby?! Apparently, not my children!  Who can blame them?

Quinn and Sullivan - holding Elsa Elizabeth on a recent visit to our house.

Sullivan and Quinn - holding Harper after having supper with our dear friends next door!

Aren't those babies just the cutest things ever?!?  I think so.

Teacher Knows Best...

This week we had a classic case of "teacher knows best" and "parents know nothing" at our house.

For spelling each week, Quinn is required to do a series of activities to practice her words.  One of those activities is using some of her spelling words in sentences.  Quinn is good about independently doing this task, then checking in with Ryan or I to make sure all looks good.

Her spelling words this particular week followed the -ed ending...meaning that she was studying and sorting the different sounds that -ed can make at the end of words.  Quinn completed her sentences and brought them to us to check.

I looked them over and then smiled when I got to the last sentence - "I talked about nade of americans."
Ryan's conversation with Quinn when something like this...

R:  Quinn, your sentence should say "Native Americans" not "nade of americans."

Q:  No, that's not right.  My teacher says it is "nade of americans."

R:  She may pronounce it similar to that, but native is one word, not two words.

Q:  No.

R:  I promise you, Quinn. It is "native", not "nade of."

Q:  Well you're wrong, Dad.  Mrs. H says "nade of amercians."  She's right.

And how can you continue to argue with that?!  Apparently what the teacher says (or pronounces in this case) is golden and her parents know nothing.  And I sure this is not the last time that her teachers know more than her parents.  :)

Cutie Pie...

After the fiasco with Quinn's school pictures this year, I wasn't holding my breath that Sullivan's school pictures were going to turn out either.   They were returned last week and....

I have to admit, they turned out pretty well!

This was the first of many school pictures for Sullivan Grace.  Let's hope the next several years turn out as well as these.

Halloween 2013...

Truth be told - with last week full of parent/teacher conferences, work meetings, Halloween and being sick, I am a smidgen bit behind in my blogging.  Maybe a little bit more than a little bit, but that's okay.  I am hoping to get all caught up this week.

Halloween sneaked up on us this year.  We thought about our costumes early and had a game plan ready.  With both girls wanting to be cheerleaders, I thought I had an easy task ahead of me for finding costumes.  Having some difficulty finding appropriate outfits, the girls settled on different costumes.

I have to admit, I was a bit saddened by their choices - not because I didn't like what they chose, but because this is the first year that they didn't have coordinating outfits.  :(  I loved that they always dressed in something similar.  That being said, they both were absolutely adorable this year...

Quinn chose to be a scarecrow.

Sullivan chose to be... Sullivan (from Monsters, Inc.)

Together they were an cute, uncoordinated duo....

We started out the evening doing our traditional tour around town.  We stopped by Nana and Papa's, where Nana got into the dressing up action.

Our next stop was by Auntie and Uncle's, where their kiddoes were dressed as adorable as can be.  Judson was a mailman and Crew was a UPS worker.  Elsa was their "special delivery" - although she was not having anything to do with her costume!

We were able to see Grandma Jane while over there, along with Dave and Diana (Matt's parents).

Our last stop was to Uncle Eric's before we headed for home to go trick-or-treating.

The girls had a great time going door to door and getting candy.  When we got home, Sullivan instantly dumped her candy and began to count the pieces.

Sullivan counts all the way up to 30 by herself then says,
"31,32,33,34,35,36...
30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37...
30,31,32,33,34...30"

The poor girl counted like that until all of her candy was gone.  Then she proudly announces, "I had 35 pieces!!!"  Sadly, we was only 70+ pieces off.

All in all it was a good Halloween.  Mother Nature was good to us and spared us the snow!
