Feeling the Love...

I had a small procedure done this past week, and to say that I was showered with love and affection is an understatement.  Ryan, Sullivan, Quinn and Paul each got me flowers or a plant. It was so thoughtful.

PSA to all those (females) reading - get your yearly mammograms.  It saves lives.

We were lucky enough to get to experience a first for us by being invited to Fabi’s (Sullivan’s best friend) quinceanera this past weekend. In some hispanic communities, 15th birthdays are a big deal and they are celebrated in BIG fashion with a party, traditions, and celebrations.  

The celebration was filled with all sorts of joy and happiness and music and food and fun. 

We got all gussied up….

The birthday girl was radiant in her hot pink gown. She danced the night away with friends and family…

They took lots of pictures in the photo booth too….

It was an all around great night. The love for Fabi was evident by all that were present. What a fun and special evening and so blessed that our first quinceanera was to celebrate Fabi.

In honor of the 4 year anniversary of Covid this week, here is a throwback to the beginning of the pandemic - doing all sorts of crafts to pass the time.

On the Mat...

 This spunky girl made her debut on the Stunt mat yesterday...

Stunt is a new sport to Ryan and I and we got a crash course in the rules and scoring of the sport.  The games are split in four quarters.  Each quarter has four routines that are performed simultaneously against the other team.  At the end of each routine, the judges award a point for the team that did the best at that particular routine.  The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Sullivan is on the far right, in the back...

They had two games last night against rival schools in the area.   Sullivan performed in 4 routines and of those 4 routines, her team scored each time.  So Sullivan is 100% for the routines she was in.  At the end of the night, the Hawks lost one game and won the other game.  Not to shabby for their first games of the year.

A throwback to the days when Quinn would show us a random fish flashcard (from a Go Fish game), asking whether it was "uppercase or lowercase?" There was no rhyme or reason to her madness, and nearly 100% of the time our answers would be wrong.  I can't believe that we weren't able to guess a lowercase or uppercase letter on a flashcard with no letters on it! Silly Q.

Civic Duty... ✔

Quinn experienced a first yesterday...  She got to vote in the primaries!  Even though she is 17, she will be of legal age by the time the presidential election takes place in November.  That makes her eligible to vote at 17 years old in the primary election.  

So Quinn did her civic duty and showed up to vote.  We are thrilled to have another eager civic minded voter in the family!

This is when Quinn was chosen to be on the cover of a magazine that was distributed with the Sunday newspaper for a back-to-school special.  She was famous!

Feeling Second Best...

Quinn came home from work this week and was quickly greeted by Tessa.  The greeting lasted for approximately 2.2 seconds before she turned her body on the couch and waited for Paul to enter next.  

Much to Tessa's dismay, Paul was not with Quinn.  Much to Quinn's dismay, Tessa made her feel second best.  I guess in Tessa's mind: Quinn=Paul and Paul=Happiness.
