Sixteen Candles...

Cue the music... Sixteen Candles!

A certain someone celebrated her 16th birthday today.  

What a sweet 16th it was!

The morning started with a donut breakfast and the traditional breakfast candle (because you can never have too many wishes)!

School got in the way of the fun today, but presents were opened shortly after school was over.

I always love how Quinn loves her presents...

Quinn got to choose a dinner out tonight, and the dinner of choice was fairly familiar.  Like Sullivan, she chose Shake Shack too! What can I say?  They both have great taste.

The cake of choice this year was NOT an ice cream cake (surprise!), but rather a Rice Krispie treat cake.  

And of the 16 candles, zero boyfriends. Sorry, Sam!

So hard to believe that Quinn is already 16.  It seems like yesterday that we were sitting in the hospital room in Nashville, listening to Q wail her lungs out in the nursery, wondering what parenthood had in store for us.  It's been a wild, fast ride but wouldn't change it for a minute.  We are looking forward to the years ahead and all it has to offer!

Happy Sweet 16, Quinn.  We love you!

An Interview with Sullivan - Age 13

Officially a Teenager...

It's been a little bit since I've posted... we've been busy traveling and making memories.  While we were gone, a certain someone had a birthday.  

Sullivan turned 13...

We were in Washington DC for her birthday, so the day of celebration looked a bit different.  We started the day with a few of Sulla's favorites - donuts, pomegranates and a Starbucks refresher.

She attempted to get a birthday hug from her sister, but you can see how well that went over...

In true Sulla fashion, she was insistent on opening presents before we headed out for the day.  Lots of clothes and a new pair of shoes for the Fashionista.  

The day was spent touring the sight of Washington DC (more to come on that later).  The evening was spent having a dinner of Sullivan's choice. That landed us at Shake Shack...

No birthday is complete without a cake - even on vacation.  

After blowing out the candles, it was determined that Sulla has about 4 boyfriends.  Not her best candle blowing this year!

The annual Easter egg birthday picture had to take place after the fact.  Some things just don't travel well on vacation!

Being a teenager looks good on her.  Happy Birthday, Sulla Bulla!

Miss Independent...

Quinn is becoming more and more comfortable behind the wheel.  She is tackling busier streets, highways, parking lots, and construction congestion.  This week she managed a new first for her - completely independent of any help from me.

Quinn pumped gas all by herself.  She not only paid and pumped the gas, but she also managed the Costco gas lines.  If you know Costco gas lines, you know what an accomplishment that is to maneuver around all the cars.
