DC Getaway...

My mom, my sister and I were able to spend a long weekend together in Washington DC to celebrate a belated 70th birthday for my mom. I'm not sure when the last time was that just the three of us were together, let alone for 4+ days.

We started out at the National Museum of the American Indian...

We then walked over to the US Capital...

We started the day off at the Holocaust Museum...

It's an extraordinarily well-done museum for such a heavy and somber subject.

 After the museum, we walked the National Mall.  Anyone that has walked the mall, knows how many miles we clocked that day.  

Lots of miles clocked, lots of memories made.  It is powerful to see all the monuments and memorials and think about all this nation has been through in its short history...
