Sprechen Sie Deutsch?!

This weekend we were invited to attend GermanFest with our neighbors.  What is GermanFest, you might ask?!  It is a festival (of sorts) where there are local vendors selling German merchandise, booths full of German food, and a stage full of German-esk type performers.  Oh, and don't forget the Wiener dog races.  (We unfortunately weren't there to witness that great spectacle, although I kind of wish we would have been.)

So when we were asked to go, it was with certainty that we would go.  The next challenge was to convince the girls (well at least our girls) that the Germanfest was going to be the place to be.  Fortunately for us, the GermanFest also included Inflatables and face painting.... score!  With that news, we were golden.

The girls took to the bouncy houses right away.  Unfortunately for us, someone accidentally kicked the power cord out from behind the house at the exact time our children were in it and within seconds the bouncy house began deflating.  I don't think you've ever seen a group of parents move so fast in your lives to help their children.

Surprising, just a few tears were shed.  But within minutes, the girls altered their plans.  They abandoned the idea of going back to that house........and decided to try the other inflatable house instead.  Ha!

What would GermanFest be without enjoying a good beer?!  Jon and Ryan partook in the festivities and enjoyed themselves a good bier.

After a bit of walking around we stumbled upon train rides.  The girls waited patiently for their turn.

Aboard the train.

What would a festival be without enjoying some type of treat.  Not certain that ice cream is really German based, but what three, five, or six year old really cares?!

The girls also enjoyed face painting, courtesy of Lincoln High School's Art Club.  Sullivan and Livy chose a butterfly. Quinn picked a unicorn.

We really enjoyed ourselves and the company of our good friends.  I am not certain without the push of our neighbors that we would have ever attended this festival on our own.  So I am thankful that they were insistent that we go and who knows, we might just have to go back next year!
